The reality of Stadiums in Brazil is a consequence of vicious cycles that over recent years have created: obsolete infrastructure, no comfort inside and no security inside or outside. This therefore only allows for low price tickets and consequently the very low profile of the supporters who go to stadiums, the only ones who will accept these conditions.
The SINAENCO - Sindicato Nacional de Empresas de Arquitectura e Engenharia Consultiva carried out a technical evaluation to the 29 biggest Stadiums in Brazil and pointed to many significant mistakes in all of them, as also was the case with new ones. There are serious problems in concrete structures, water does not flow correctly and therefore bathrooms and dressings rooms flood. There is also bad visibility and little comfort for the spectators. The reality of Brazilian Stadiums clearly shows how difficult the “Maintenance“ task is for the owner particularly when it is not part of his “Core business”.
For this reason, from the 100 million identified supporters in Brazil, only a very low percentage go in Stadiums. The average attendance for games in stadiums today for the majority of clubs, is less than 0.5% of its supporters.
The occupation rate of stadiums in Brazil in the Brazilian Championship for 2006 was only close to one third.
The “Brazilian Stadium Model” must consider the total infrastructure that:
- Will change the social profile of the public that actually goes to Brazilian Stadiums.
- Will guarantee an improvement in revenues.
- Will attract supporters with their families.
- Will promote advertising at the stadiums from companies within many diverse sectors of business and industry.
- Will promote the growth of direct relationships with Customers.
